At the end of November 2013 I closed my accounts with Absa Jozini Branch and transferred the money to a new account at another bank. I followed all the right procedures and asked what needed to be done to close all my accounts. In January 2014 I received a sms from Absa claiming my accounts are still open and that I will be charged every month until I close it.

As I am now in Pretoria I went to Absa Woodlands Branch to again close my accounts. I was told that the Jozini Branch should have cancelled my credit card with the credit bureau and then made me pay an amount to close all my accounts. To my knowledge it is Absa's policy to inform the client on how to sufficiently close his/her accounts. This was not done which frustrates and angers me because I made it clear what my intention was, which was to close my accounts. The Absa Jozini Branch did not assist me in the correct manner.
