ABSA PRIVATE BANK makes your life very difficult

I called General Enquires to find out how to go about closing my ABSA private bank account. They told me that I have to come to the branch to close it with my ID. I went into Westville branch at Westville mall because that is we're my branch is. After standing in the usual slow queue, I was told at the Client services desk that I must go to Umhlanga branch to close my account because it's a Private Bank account and that they cannot assist with my request. I am now inconvenienced twice because ABSA seem to have overlooked Call Centre staff training. The call centre should have given the correct information. I tried calling my banker who is at the Bluff branch, but he was busy with another client. Now banking fees have been charged for the month because I am being given the run around when trying to close this account.
I was also told at the branch that the credit card account needs to be closed separately.
The point of having an ABSA private bank account was to make life easier, having a personal banker etc. ABSA bank seems to have got it very wrong. I cannot wait, to close my account and I look forward to the convenience I am currently afforded at my new bank
