Closing account

I have been trying to close my account for the last week. The platinum banker said go to a branch they can do it all. You get to a branch and get classed like cattle then waste an hour plus waiting for a consultant. only to be told that they can't close cheque accounts because the other branch is closed. I get a call on monday to tell me that i owe them service fees for a month that in which I don't want there services. I paid service fees last month. I have been trying to close the account for more than a week. Needless to say that I am more disgust and dissappointed in ABSA than before.
