I have a revolving loan with ABSA. The account is paid off and I want to close the account. I went into the bank in the beginning of the month as I was told over the phone I have to go the a branch for them to close the account. So off I went. First I was at customer services. After about 10 min or so I was told to go and sit and wait for a consultant to help me as there is a block on the account and the block needs to be removed first THEN only can they close the account. I went to the receptionist who tried to help me between helping other people. She phoned about 4 different people that keep referring her to someone else. She managed to speak to someone which gave her a ref nr: 9227386 and told her I must phone within 3-5 working days to confirm that the account is closed. This after I spend almost an hour and a half in the bank. Today when I phoned I was told, I need to go into the bank and they must close the account for me. Now I will NOT go into the bank again and waste another hour of my time standing speaking to someone that can't help me. If nobody can close the account via the phone I will leave the account AND WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OUTSTANDING FEES.
