Currently o/seas, bonded property is tenanted and insured with Std. 2 geysers in the house, 1 burst in Jan (nightmare to get sorted out) & the 2nd just gave up making hot water in Feb. It is impossible to register a claim or get an electronic response from Std. Nothing works. E-mails are answered with a standardized about getting back to you. Bit the bullet & called the call centre, several times, they are ALWAYS experiencing high call volumes & you can hold forever, ever, ever... Even posted on their FB page & got a response from a real person to say that someone will contact me shortly. Are you kidding me? Needless to say, never happened. So, I contacted their Complaints Resolution Centre & asked for a claim to be registered. I had to contact (phone / e-mail) Palesa (Senior CRC Consultant) several times, as did my tenant because she doesn't respond. Eventually I get a mail to say that a plumber from HOME ASSIST (what happened to my insurance claim?) has been assigned. He quotes me to repair a pressure valve which is 'not standard', despite having an SABS stamp on it? So, where do I go next if the Complaints Resolution Centre is rotten too? Ombudsman? No hot water = 3 weeks!!!
