An hour's wait in an empty bank

I went to the bank to apply for a secondary card, and reported to the front desk an was told that the assistant only had one client and that I would next in line.
I literally waited for almost an hour, and the bank was literally empty, there where no more than 50 customers.
Of all the years that I've been a client, never have I received such service at any other branch; I literally walked out, I'm a client that keeps their business afloat, hence, I won't subject myself to such low standards.
What I do not understand is how one assistant spends more than an hour with one client, and since the bank wasn't busy why were the why wasn't I assigned to another assistant?
That branch is run like a spaza shop, no order what so ever, and now I have to make another trip to the bank and apply for the secondary credit card!
