Santam
Debit Order deducted after ample cancellation time

Business & Finance

I cancelled my SANTAM Short term insurance policy well before the end of the month. I even received a cancellation letter from SANTAM dated 30 November 2013.

The debit order was still deducted from my bank account on 2 December 2013 for the amount of R945.88.

On 5 December 2013 the money was refunded to me, but ONLY R925.88 was refunded. Why must I pay R20 (excluding bank charges of R7.15) if the mistake was on Santam's side. I tried contacting SANTAM to resolve this, but apparently the lady working in this department is on leave. This means I must now wait for a full refund until this lady is back at work.

This is totally unacceptable! As the mistake was on their side, they should refund me the total debit order amount INCLUDING the unnecessary bank charges
