In May 2012 I added a MotorWise policy to my Standard Bank vehicle finance. Till today I have not received a single acknowledgement or document to confirm the policy or to supply me with a policy number.

In October 2013, I submit a claim and get told that my policy is void because I had not serviced my vehicle within a month of purchasing. If I had not received any terms and conditions, how would I have known this? And why would I service a vehicle that does not require a service? Other than that, the vehicle has been serviced according to the vehicle manufacturer requirements.

In November 2013 I requested a refund as there was no need for a policy that was void after the very first month. I called back a couple weeks later to find out the status and was told that I would receive an R806 refund for a policy that I paid R3950.

I would understand if I signed something or received the terms and conditions but why should I have the full premiums for /-17 months deducted if I was not informed correctly and if the policy was not valid after the first month?
