Re: claim 1040349

Business & Finance

One off my Thatch roofs was starting to fall over and I needed to repair it. When I received n letter from SA Home loans. IT was the Renewal of my Home Owners insurance Policy. For the first time I saw that my 2 Thatches was covered for R116 150.00.So I register a claim (1040349). They then send out an assessor.
Later they phoned me and said that they where not going to approve the claim, because off bad craftsmanship. I asked them what the problem was, and they said it did not have struts at the top.
I feel aggrieved by this because when I bought the House the 2 thatches was already there. I am not an expert on building thatch roofs, how was I se pose to know that. Yet they said it was my responsibility. I never asked them to insure the Thatchs they did it by them self. The people who did the property valuation (Proper-T- IQ) should know more about thatches, because I have no lightning conductor and I could not get insurance because of that. I feel SA Home Loan is steeling my money, what would of happened if the thatches burned down.!!! why must I pay for insurance on the thatches but when I want to claim, they look for reasons not to pay claims.
