From a simple vehicle accident issue in early 2010 which could have been resolved easily in weeks I have had to fight with Santam and their lawyer till now!

- The issue could have first been resolved within weeks had Santam contacted my insurer (Budget Insurance) promptly. I was simply not aware that I had to lodge a claim with my Insurer as I had no damage to my vehicle. My insurer would have settled in full had it been within the allocated time period.
- The issue could then have been resolved directly between myself and Santam had they liaised and negotiated a settlement
- It escalated to a summons in Dec 2011. I liaised with both Santam and their lawyer and proposed a settlement in early 2012. This could have been resolved had they agreed a fair settlement instead of claiming all damages from me.
- I heard nothing back until a visit from the Sheriff in mid July 2013. I've liaised with Santam and their lawyer once again and proposed a settlement which was rejected. I then agreed to pay the stated costs and made payment. I've now been told that the legal costs were just an 'estimate' and I have to pay an additional approx. R6000 in charges.

Their response - its all my fault!
