SANTAM RIDICULOUS CLAIM OFFER

My Employee was travelling within the legal speed limit in his motor vehicle. Santams client made an absolute illegal U turn on the road and as a result, made full contact to my employees motor vehicle. As a result of the collision, my employees motor vehicle was damaged. The damages came to R 17000-00. Upon submitting all requirements for the claim towards Santam for their clients damages, they offered to pay R 2400.09. That is over R 14500 over what the damages are. We feel the offer to simply be an insult from a reputable company such as Santam. The mere fact Santam agrees to pay R 2400.09 means they acknowledge their clients full fault in the motor vehicle accident. I find it very annoying that Insurance companies such as Santam know exactly when they are liable to pay for damages, but give you the lowest of lowest of offers, and you have to fight them legally to get what is rightfully yours. They know most people will not be able to afford to go legal, so they know most people will just accept any offer. Thulani Mbuyisa who is Santams legal's response" No road user has 100% right of way and should forsee other vehicles..." which is pointless if you are at fault of accident!!
