I submitted a claim for my washing machine that was leaking water on the 24 June 2013. I was informed that I was to use one of their repairers, by the name of Aladdin Electronics. They came out to my house and told me they needed to take the machine away for testing. 2 Weeks and several calls later I was finally given a report, the report stated that the repairs would cost R1680 but that the damage was due to wear and tear (very convenient as brokers I speak to tell me this is said on every damage claim they hand to Santam), I was informed I would have to fix it myself. I duly contacted Aladdin Electronics to ask them to repair it and confirm the cost. I now hear from them that the one part is not available in South Africa, they never even checked this at quote stage, and that it would take 6-8 weeks to get it and then repair my washing machine. My guess, they knew they were going to quote as wear and tear. Wow, that would be a total of 10 weeks without a washing machine.
This is the most pathetic service I have ever received, i cannot believe that Santam would allow someone that was a loyal customer for 8 years with very few claims, to sit without a washing machine for 10 weeks
