Extremely unfair treatment

I booked a ticket on Kulula departing from Cape Town 21/11/2013 returning on 27 /11/2013. On 21 Nov I had to take a detour of aprox 120 km because of the recent flooding in the Cape. I could not contact the airline as my cell phone battery was not charged. I arrived 45 minutes late and hurried to the counter only to be told that I should have contacted the airline within 30 minutes of missing the flight. I explained my situation but I was told that nothing could be done and I had to buy a new ticket. I brought a new ticket with BA for R1700.
When arriving at the airport on 27 Nov I was told that my return ticket had also been cancelled because I missed the flight on 21 Nov. I could not believe this!!! What would have happened if I had made a separate booking for the return flight and what difference does it make.!!! I had to buy yet another ticket for R1700. I frequently fly with Kulula and surely a person's situation should be taken into consideration in a situation like this but the attitude in both Cape Town and Johannesburg was one of indifference. I am appalled by this attitude and am furious, this trip has cost me close on R5000 . I will not recommend Kulula to anybody!
