False advertising

I would like to complain about an advertisement that was recently placed on 94.7 Highveld stereo, advertising domestic flights from johannesburg to durban for R399.00 untill the end of December.

After accessing the SA express website and finding that all flights on the website was more expensive than the advertised price, I phoned the customer service department to make further inquiries. The operator (after speaking to her manager) then informed me that the flights were R399.00 excluding taxes. After taxes have been included, the flights cost R986.00. The advertisement made no mention of additional costs or taxes being loaded onto the price.

The operator at customer services informed me that they were not even aware of flights being advertised for R399.00.

I feel that this advertisement was creating false expectations and wasn't at all transparent. This type of false advertising should be illegal and I am very disappointed with SA express. I don't feel like I would suggest this airline to anyone due to their misleading advertising and false promises regarding discounts.
