Emirates
Incorrect Boarding times

Traveling & Tourism

I arrived at Dubai Airport from Mumbai on 2 July 2013 at 21h00. My connection to Johannesburg was the above flight. As per the boarding pass boarding time was 03h55 and I arrived at the gate 04h05. When I got to the gate the gate was closed and only one Emirates staff at the gate who sat there without taking no notice of me. I assumed that the gate was still not open and waited a while to see if the gate would open a bit later. To my surprise the person did not ask me anything leaving me there waiting to figure out what was going on. At about 04h25 I went to the Emirates information desk at the centre of terminal 3 to see what was the status of the flight. There they advised me that the flight has left and I should book myself for standby for the next available flight. I have the following questions and concerns:-

Why did staff at the boarding gate take no note of me nor advise me what was the status of the flight. Is this how you normally treat your loyal passengers
All Boarding passes clearly indicate that boarding gates close 20 minutes before the flight leaves. Why in this instance was it different
I have on many occasions this year and several time before been in transit
