Overbooking and Useless MCO tickets!

Our problems with SAA began in July 2012, when my wife and I were denied boarding onto the flight that would take us to our honeymoon. We had checked in online the night before and had arrived at the airport well before the check-in time. SAA had overbooked the flight by 30-odd seats. We received no apology for the inconvenience, but were given MCO tickets.
We are now attempting to use those tickets and have once again been met with incompetence. We first called the call centre to book our flights. We were informed that the booking was made and we simply had to pay the airport taxes when we arrived to board. We called back the following day only to be told that our bookings had been cancelled as we had not paid the taxes within 24 hours. This condition was never mentioned. I then spent an obscene amount of time and money being shunted around from call centre to airport and back again, only to be continually told that I had to book and pay at the airport itself. We live 500km from said airport. I spoke to a team manager at SAA, who was rude, disinterested and unhelpful, and refused to put me in contact with management.
