SAA overbooking international flights

My family and several other passengers were bumped from a Johannesburg-Perth flight last night because they overbooked the flight. SAA offered us flight vouchers for a later date (but you still have to pay the tax, yet they only pay tax on actual passengers, so they are just pocketing this as profit!) and accommodation. The voucher is useless to us. We bought and paid for our tickets and arrived before the checkin deadline. SAA should not be allowed to sell something they know can not be delivered, we needed to catch that flight.
