Once again bad service from Telkom

The two technicians, who eventually came out to assess the problem, after my report of intermittent ADSL issues, fault ref 175CWK100413, were of no help at all and did not even test the modem, merely said that it must be the modem as it was not the line. They told me to take the modem to the nearest Telkom outlet and they would replace it. When I asked if they were sure this was the case as I didn't want to go all the way in for nothing it was confirmed that this was all I had to do. This, however, was not the case, although the staff at the Telkom outlet were very helpful in explaining the process and a new modem was duly installed. This, however, did not resolve the issue and it turns out the problem was actually at the box in the street. The two technicians were uninterested and as a result misdiagnosed the problem, causing a waste of time and money that should have been avoided. Telkom is quick to advise that customers will be charged for an unnecessary call out, however, there is no recourse when the customer is inconvenienced and is financially out of pocket unnecessarily, due to certain technicians who can't be bothered to do their job properly.
