My existing modem gave up 2 weeks ago. Signed 24 month contract @ telkom store for new modem whose wireless didn't work. The store exchanged it without hassle. The problem persisted with 2nd modem as well. On 23 March they picked up its an adsl line fault & not hardware. A technician called on 25 saying he'll come to repair line on 26 March. He never arrived! After many calls to the fault reporting line, I was told that it will only be repaired on 2 April! I phoned accounts dept to see if I can return the modem & cancel the contract, to my dismay, the operater says, "you signed a contract & you'll be charged a penalty". My question is, am I at the mercy of telkom for the next 24 months or can I get out of the contract and go to some service provider who will give better & more efficient service?
