On 14th March, I purchased 750 mbytes of data for $220. And, as an overseas vistor with 40 years ITC expereince, I monitored the usage closely on my Smasung Galaxy III. This smartphone provides an detialed analysis of 14 categories of data usage, which from my expereince in ITC was accurate.
Suddenly, at 8:27 hrs of 7/4/13, my data services get off. without contifaction of course, and subsequent emails getting charged at the very high 'air time' rate. After paying $110 for the 2nd time in 2-3 days, with very few phone calls, I decided to dig into what was happening.
Altohugh I had used less than 150 Mbytes off my data bank, Vodacom had cut me off when they said that I had exceeded 750 Mbytes. After several phones calls, right down to the Data Services Dept in Cape Town, they admitted that they could not tell me how much data I was using, only the duration of the Internet connection. they said that mobile phones were very inaccruate.
I phone Samsung to ask how accurate their SIII's are, and they say 100% accurate. I agree with them.
Vodacom suggested asking for an itemised list for me to check. I wasted another R10 on this list, but it told me nothing about data bank usage.
