Vodacom, "liquid damage" again..no warrenty

Telecommunications

I have been a loyal Vodacom customer since 1995/6.In Dec 2011 I decided to renew Talk 120 contract with Vodacom & make use of Blackberry 9360 deal. This is where all my problems started. Dropped calls, the device overheated etc etc etc. Numerous contacts with Vodacom simply lead to nothing. In Dec 2012 I realised that the battery life on my Blackberry suddenly reduced. Vodacom suggested I test the battery in my wife's phone, to see if it does the same. When we physically compared the batteries of the two phones we realised that my battery was misformed /swolen. Vodacom4U in Stellenbosch Square, told a new battery costs R435. I contacted Vodacom requesting a discount on a battery. Vodacom suggested I take the phone back to Vodacom4U, & send it to VodacomRepair to test the device & charger to see if it might have caused the battery malfunction. Vodacom4U took 5 days en 4 job cards to sent the device to Vadacomrepair in Somerset West. SW could not find anything wrong and sent it to Jhb. Today I was told the device has liquid damage, thus not covered by warranty, and I must buy a new one. How did we get from swollen battery to liquid damage? I did not damage my phone, why must I pay?
