Took my Bold 9790 which is less than a year old to Vodacom franchise Orbit in Kloof Street where purchased..

Phone had been rebooting of its own and battery went from fully charged registered as dead while still charged..

Despite me checking software shop said was probably software - so they updated it and gave it back - problem remained.
Took it back and was told probably the battery - but that only has 6 month warranty. I said its not in the T&C they got me to sign. "Oh its in the verbal T&C's" they say. Restrain myself from telling them I am a lawyer and they talk nonsense - I just want the phone repaired.

They send it to Vodacom - 2.5 week later I have to call, your phone has been assessed with "liquid damage". I ask for technical report - still waiting. Liquid damage seems the easiest way out for service providers to tell you they can repair your phone at R1300, that's your only option, knowing its not economical for you to repair.

I can categorically state the phone has never been near liquid/ water.

So Vodacom expects you to simply accept you damaged the handset and that it falls outside of the warranty - with no evidence and no option - certainly it suits them.
