'liquid damage"

Telecommunications

The battery on my BB9360 "popped", Vodacom suggested I send it in to Vodacom Repair to have it "checked out".(Take note the phone was working perfectly, apart from low battery life due to damaged battery.) So I send the phone in & soon got a call back & being told that my phone has "liquid damage" and that I can buy a "refurbished" one for R1880. I declined the quote & asked them to return my device. I then bought a new battery for R435, hoping to get another 6 months or so out of the device until I can walk away from Vodacrap forever. When my phone was returned to me, it was completely destroyed and would not even boot up! Strangely the back cover has been replaced with a new one, as if being "refurbished" So NOW Vodacom tells me that "sometimes when they open the phone up, the liquid damage could spread, completely damaging the phone." This looks very much like a to me, almost as if they are from their customers, either by supplying handsets they know have a potential flaw, or by simply trying to resell the same device twice. Why are we taking this & why is the government allowing the abuse? Sent my complaint to Carte Blanche as well, not holding my breath though.
