My usual monthly account with Vodacom is R85.00 for Data Messenger Plus. On Monday 3rd Feb I was debited R9, 553.54. I immediately phoned to complain. As my usage of my phone has never changed, I told them this was not possible. I do not play games on my phone, download music/pictures etc. After this phone call I was given a service request number & told I would be contacted within 24 hours. On Tuesday I phoned back & was told the same story. On Wednesday - still no contact from Vodacom - I was told that my complaint had been "escalated" to the wrong department & was given another reference number. Again I was told that I would receive a call from their engineers within 24 hours. Today (Thursday 6th) I phoned again. Same story. The person to whom I spoke could not help & said I would be contacted. She did say that the charge referred to Internet data usage. IMPOSSIBLE. I do not access the internet routinely from my phone. So I have waited from Monday to Thursday and still do not know what this ridiculous charge refers to. The only sure thing is that Vodacom has debited my account with an amount 112x higher than my usual monthly account without alerting me.
