Account closed but still billed

On the 1st November 2013 I cancelled my MTN cell phone account as the contract ended 16 December 2013. I was assured the account was going to be cancelled and I wasn't going to get debited in January. I was debited for January again. I then phoned in and the consultant told me that she could see that the account was marked for closure and that I needed to contact my bank to reverse the debit order. I phoned my bank who sais they are not allowed to reverse the debit order but could block the debit order from reoccurring. I'm now trying to get the money back but as I don't have an MTN phone anymore, I have to pay for the pleasure which I have waited 30 mins for a consultant to answer. Not only are they incompetent at closing accounts, their call centre response was very slow
