Cellphone contract upgrade not possible because of giganyt bundle

My upgrade is due but because of a giganyt bundle that I purchased the upgrade is not possible until the giganyt bundle expires on 23 January 2014. Can someone please explain how this work because I'm not a happy customer and I have been paying my contract every month. Please explain why a data bundle is halting my ugrade... or maybe I shud just stop the contract and find another service provider.
