R89 x24months data bundle

I tried to buy a R89 1gig data bundle on a 24 month contract for my cellphone. As they have the special on at the moment and was told i could only use the bundle on a laptop or tablet. I was also told that the only data bundle available for my cellphone contract is the 1 that will cost me R289 per gig. Ive been with Vodacom since 2000 and could go to Cell C or 8ta as their data deals are so much better but i chose to stay with Vodacom but now im thinking of changing after this. Can someone please give me a valid reason as to why I can not have this Data Bundle deal on my Cellphone?
