Billed with no service contract

In September I transferred a number on a expired low value contract to a person who had been using it and wished to take it over. The person submitted my letter authorising transfer of the number into his name and applied for a contract, provided banking details, statements etc and walked out of Vodacom with a new phone which he proceed to use as per the terms of the contract he had signed with them, though he was never billed. Instead I have been billed R640 odd a month since the transfer, despite there being no authorisation or contract with me. Having failed to get the billing error corrected through Vodacom Customer Services, who said on their system it simply indicates that I upgraded the service, I was finally back in Cape Town the following month and went into the Gardens store to get them to rectify the error. They were entirely indifferent. Said they had not been able to process his application as there was some company information missing so they continued to bill me. They refuse to reverse the incorrect billing or to stop billing me for a service I don't have and having indicated that I need to sort it out with the person they contracted with independently of me!
