Mtn billing me for data that i'm not using

I got the mtn contract where you get the smart tv and a data sim card. We used the sim card for a while and then found out that afrihost have some great data deals. So we took the mtn contract sim card out of the modem that they provided and inserted our afrihost sim card. Every month now we have been getting notifications from mtn that 90% of our data has been used. This is impossible because the sim card is not even in the modem. We have checked our afrihost data usage and we are using it every day... We have launched a complaint with mtn and we are getting nowhere. Afrihost uses the mtn network but it is a different sim card, and like i said, we are tracking our afrihost data usage and that is being depleted on our normal pace anddddd we get our normal invoice from them. I just can't understand how we are getting a bill from mtn that is 3 times higher than the normal one. We went to mtn customer services and they checked the billing for our contract and they say it is our data sim card. I would like to know how this is possible while the sim card is not even in the modem...
