A few hours after our complaint to HelloPeter on Friday 8 November about a telephone and ADSL which stop working every time it rains, we were told the case had been accelerated and were contacted by a technician who wanted to come here on Saturday morning. As this was the one day we were not available to let him into our home, he agreed to come early Monday but never arrived.
We have now contacted Telkom every few days for almost a month and they always test it when it's sunny, then close the case as they find no fault. A case opened at midday today was closed within two hours after long distance tests were done on a dry day.
We were told weeks ago that the problem is a corroded cable, so why can't it be replaced?
Telkom are now threatening to charge for an unnecessary callout. We have already spent a lot of money on unnecessary calls, including a long cell phone call to report it when it rained during Telkom business hours. After a month we have also suddenly been told that they cannot work on the ADSL line without MWEB's permission. Why weren't we told about this sooner?
