Phone doesn't work when it rains

We have reported this issue repeatedly over the last few weeks. On the first occasion a technician came after the rain stopped and could find no problem. The next time the technician said that the cable was corroded and he would fetch a replacement, but it started raining before he returned. We heard nothing further from him. Then we received an SMS saying the problem had been resolved.

After that the weather was fine for a week, but as soon as the rain returned, so did the problem. Every time it rains we contact Telkom. Their tests show that our phone isn't working. Once the rain clears up and the cables dry out, the phone starts working again and we receive an SMS saying the problem has been resolved, although they have not been sending technicians to check the fault, even after we have told them that we still have the same rusty cable.

Our ADSL line also functions sporadically when there is rain. We are paying for both a phone line and ADSL connection which we often are unable to use.

As they keep closing the case without doing anything, our case keeps going to the back of the queue. With poor weather forecast for the next week we are likely to have no service at all.
