Incorrect info and poor customer service

Wifi on my iPhone 4S no longer worked after the new software upgrade became available (this happened during the night and I had not upgraded obviously). Spoke to a Vodacom customer care consultant and they advised me to take the phone in. I specifically asked if my iphone would still be under warranty as it was a contract phone and I had had it for 1 year and 2.5 months. I was assured by the consultant that all vodacom phones fall under the 2 year warranty. So I made the 1.5 hour drive to the nearest Vodacom store for my phone to be sent into Vodacom repair store in Polokwane. A few days later I receive a call with a quote of R2962.96 incl VAT. When asked what this sum was for, I was informed it was for Labour ONLY. When asked what the problem was, 'it wasn't in the report'. After being a loyal vodacom customer for over 14 years, I am fuming at this poor service. And since I can buy a new phone for that ridiculous sum, I have instructed them to send my phone back without the repairs as they are insistant that it only falls under a one year warranty, despite what I was told by one of their own before the inconvienice of making a 3 hour round trip and being without a phone for a week
