Vodacom
2 iPhones, 1 Warranty

Telecommunications

In July 2011 I upgraded and selected Apple iPhone 4 - on 7.03.2012 the phone 'died', I handed it into Vodacom Longbeach Mall who sent it Vodacare in Green Point who sent it JHB - I was advised that the handset was not repairable and was sent a new replacement iPhone 4 on 19.03.2012 (a 3 week process) - on Monday 4.03.2013 this replacement iPhone too simply 'died' - again I took the phone into Vodacom Longbeach. Yesterday I receive a call and email advising that I need to pay R2, 500 to have the phone repaired because it's out of warranty - ie the iPhone warranty is for 1 year and valid for the first phone I had and does not extent to the replacement phone I was given in March last year - surely, a new handset would have it's own warranty period of a year? according to DigiCape, Apple resellers even if I had received 2-3 replacement handsets in a 23 month period, my warranty period is 1 year from receipt of the first handset - I find this completely unacceptable - surely each iPhone should have it's own 1 year warranty? being on one of the larger Vodacom contracts and a client for over 14 years one would expect Vodacom to replace the phone and or repair at their cost!!
