Good day,

I have been an MTN customer for a long time, almost 2 years of which have been on contract. Last Thursday I got an sms informing me that my contract comes to an end sometime in December 2013 and that I can go to any store for renewal. This morning at 2:30 AM, I get 3 texts informing that I have been successfully been upgraded, and this without my knowledge or consent!

Earlier this morning I decided to call the MTN Call centre to lay a complaint and ask that contract be cancelled immediately. I was informed that my contract was upgraded at some store in Johannesburg, whilst I reside in Cape Town. The call centre agent informed me that I would have to wait at least 10 days for the department to complete the investigation, once they have heard from the store in question, whenever that will be!

I am appalled that MTN compromises its clients private information this way! How did that shop get hold of my details? How come the upgrade was approved and new expiry date given without my signature? Why should I wait long for something I didn't request for to be cancelled? I really feel like my privacy has been compromised and considering cutting ties with MTN for good!
