Don't use MTN, their service is shockingly bad

In August 2013 I took out a contract with MTN Direct, the service was so appalling, that I cancelled the contract. I went away for two weeks on an oversees trip and during this time MTN have not only made an error in disconnecting my number (when I gave them detailed written instructions to transfer the number onto pay-as-you-go), they have taken more than 4 days to try and rectify the problem.
Each consultant tells me that it will take 2 - 24 hours and now after 96 hours I receive a message (whilst calling MTN for a status on the issue) that the SIM card was never RICA, this is the SIM that MTN gave me with the contract that i subsequently cancelled due to their appalling service.
