I took out a new contract through Cell C Direct. I called to activate the sim card and to port my number. I was told that the number was not RICA in my name and I must go to a store to rectify it. I went to Cell C Cresta and the consultant verified on the system that the number was RICA in my name. The store charges R200 for the port. I phoned Cell C direct the following day to request the port. The consultant moved my number to my existing 3G contract instead of my new sim card. I again went to Cell C Cresta who advised that they will charge me R50 to do the port and I needed to submit documentation which I didn't have with me. This happened over a weekend so I waited until Monday to call Cell C direct. I was transferred to every department to eventually get told that I must cancel my 3G contract (which still has 10 months remaining) in order for them to move the number to prepaid and do the port. This has now been a week (2 weeks since I received my phone) and my number has not been ported. Yet Cell C is quick to bill me and I am not able to use the phone! I will probably also get billed for my 3G contract which I had to cancel due to their mistakes. Please rectify this asap!
