We upgraded to a 4 mb line a couple of years ago after Telkom made us promises of a faster line. From the beginning, we NEVER EVEN GOT CLOSE to this speed and if we were lucky - 1 mb was reached. Telkom was fairly prompt in sending out technicians who were always friendly... The line speed would increase for maybe 12 hours up to 3 mb and then gone again... Intermittent connections is a continual problem to the point I don't see why we are paying R700 plus a month for a connection that doesn't work. I am tired to trying to report this problem as nothing changes. We are currently at a 3 Kb download speed on a line that should be downloading at 400Kb. Since the beginning of this year the service has definitely deteriorated so badly that it really is unusable. At this point 1 mb would be a pleasure! With the monopoly that Telkom has on the industry what solution is available? Am considering terminating the whole "service" as Telkom is not supplying what it promised us.
