I was mislead/robbed!

I entered into a (top-up) cellular contract to the amount of approximately three-hundred rand on the 16th August 2013.The sales consultant did not advice me that, since this was an upgrade of an existing open-ended contract, that I could only begin to use the device (I-pad) in the new month (September). On the first of September an amount of R2700 was deducted by Vodacom. Upon enquiry they advised me that I was responsible for this erroneous amount of money, and that I should seek remedy from Makro who according to the Vodacom customer care rep failed to advice me fully. To my mind more money than what I have contractually consented was deducted from my account and the records clearly attest that never have I ever had the need to use more than what I can pay for my cellular needs. I have entered into a contract of R300 only and my agreement with Makro/Vodacom was based on the fulfillment of this expectation only. Please help me to find relieve in this matter?
