Payment was rejected from telkoms side

Telecommunications

I cancelled my prepaid Telkom line on 16/06/2013 as I am a pensioner now, not getting a lot of money from the state, and my daughter moved me in by her. I cancelled my debit order at the bank as I don't have a Telkom line anymore. I received an account to say that I owe Telkom R639, 30. I went to Telkom in Cape Gate and was told to use the call centre, after 40 minutes I found out the payment never went off in May and neither in June, there was enough money in my account for the payment to go off in May. The account shows payment received and then payment rejected. Who should be held responsible for payments not going off, if there was enough money in the bank. And now they are charging me R160.67 extra per payment that never went off. Can anyone please help sort this out. I am unable to pay that whole amount, that's why I cancelled the Telkom line in the first place.
