Wrong booking date

I recently moved to a new house and applied with Telkom to get a new line, the 'technicians' sent me an sms to confirm the date (23/09/13) of installation and I made arrangements at work to stay home for the day.
As most of the day went on, Telkom didn't arrive so I decided to follow up with them and when calling Telkom to confirm, they said they are not coming anymore and will make a new appointment to come out!
I am furious because I don't have leave to waste to stay home and wait all day for people to come out. Telkom couldn't even confirm a time, so that means I have to wait all day on them, to come out whenever and at whatever time. And no one bothered to call me to say they are no longer coming out.
