Vodacom don't grasp the concept - customer service

I spent 90min at Vodacom World yesterday in an attempt to cancel a contract that expired 11 months ago. The poor lady behind the desk trying to assist was so embarrassed when it took their cancelations department 45min to answer the phone. When she finally got through, the contract was cancelled and I then wanted to know what's they're going to do about the - R2500 which I paid, but received no service for. The lady at the call centre said that I should have contacted them when the contract expired and I will now lose the money. This was totally unacceptable as I've been a Vodacom client for more than 20 years. I asked for her to escalate to het supervisor. I had to hold for another 30min!!! The supervisor committed to get back to me with an answer before the end of the day. I should have known that this would not happen!! I now have two options. Lose the money or waist another 90min on the phone to try get hold of someone in the cancelations department. I would never have expected a large corporate company like Vodacom to give this type of service to their current and future clients. This is what makes clients move to other service providers. Shame on you, Vodacom!!!
