57 Min waiting for "the next available consultant"

I am wanting to change my contract to prepaid when it expires end of month. I went into a store and was told that the only way to do this was to phone the cancellation department. They were the only people who can help me, it cannot be done in-store. 10 minutes on hold on Saturday with no one attending to my call... Today (Monday) 57 minutes!!! Being told "your call will be answered by the next available consultant" - NO answer, so I put the phone down. This is HORRIFIC from a company who is meant to be one of the best!!! I wasted an hour of my time on hold!!! It is appalling!
