I opened 1GB data contract with mtn for R299/mnth but over the past 3 months I have been paying up to R589. The statements are vague and do not clearly show exactly what I am paying for. When I contacted mtn, I was told I'm in an open contract & that I would only be able to change this once my contract was 3 months old so in the meantime I would have to "watch myself" This is not realistically possible when the mtn modem software displays incorrect volumes of data available. I have been going up & down between the Eastgate store and calling mtn but receive contrary info. At Eastgate the same consultant that assisted me to enter into contract informs me that if I want to have a fixed data deal I should expect an increase in the payments of the original contract! The reason I took the contract in the first place was because of its affordability. He didn't tell me this before I signed the contract although I had asked. I will only be able to see exact charges through itemised billing which costs R21.50 I don't think I should be paying to know exactly what I'm being charged for. As a student paying my own bills, this had seemed like good deal instead it is messing with my budget.
