Claim for new phone not allowed for wrong insuranc

I have not been very happy with the services of Vodacom. Last year June, I was due for an upgrade and so my husband, daughter and I upgraded our cell phones. I took out insurance on my phone as well as my daughters. Then in September my daughter's phone was and we went through all the processes to claim back for the phone. About two weeks later Vodacom decided to contact us and inform me that my phone is not insured; however I have been paying insurance on two cell phones'. With months of back and forth, eventually I was told that I had insurance on both the cell phones, however the insurance was on my husband's number and not on my daughters number. This was a mistake made on Vodacom's behalf and I had been paying insurance for a phone that I could not claim back for. Now the relevant parties involved no longer work at Vodacom and no one seems to have record of any of this correspondence. I am very unhappy with the service received from Vodacom and I hope this issue will be rectified.
