Failiure to respond to cancellation notice

I had opened a cell phone contract with MTN during 2012 it did not include a device it was only for airtime.
During October 2012 I contacted MTN by telephone with a request to cancel the contract, during the conversation I was advised by MTN that a final account would be sent to me which would include cancellation of contract charges. I made several attempts to call MTN however i was forced to hang up due to no answer.
During January 2013 I sent the first of several emails to MTN reiterating my request to cancel the contract
I received a response saying that there would be cancellation charges but without stating what the charges would be . i finally visited an MTN shop and one of the employees managed to speak to retentions department
and was given a reference number 100934462 and advised that i should contact the retentions department.,
I have been unable to contact them as nobody answers within a reasonable time. In the meantime MTN persist in requesting payment from my bank account. I would like MTN to update their records to show the cancellation date as October 2012, to calculate the cancellation charges and offset all payments that I have made since that date.
