3 months later still trying to cancel contract

I'm getting frustrated with MTN. I took out two lines (contracts) with the service provider in 2011, the contract was to expire in March (standard 24 months contract). In January this year I called to tell them I won't be renewing my contracts when they expire. March came and went, April i was billed, when i called i was told that i should have called in March on the expiry date to cancel. What i don't understand is why is it that if i sign a 24 months contract do you wanna drag it even if i've said i don't want to upgrade? i've been reversing all the debit orders but i'm getting frustrated because every time i call its one story or another. Today i called three times, they are off line and can't assist me. Then the'll be sending me statements with monies for the last three months... both the sim cards have been disconnected, WHO ARE THEY SENDING THE AIRTIME TO? The numbers are not working at all. Still waiting for the National Consumer Commission to investigate network providers because they rip people off, if the contract says 24 months, whether i cancel or not on that expiry month, it should automatically terminate!!! Vodacom are a better service provider. MTN - Never again!
