Vodacom
50 Days and Counting

Telecommunications

I tried to phone the CEO of Vodacom but he does not take calls from old women in distant towns. Hopefully there is someone in management with the clout to make things happen. Shortly before he died our son renewed his Vodacom contract. He was self-employed, without him there is no business, no income, no need for a fancy phone or expensive contract. We want to change to Pay As You Go. On 3 separate occasions we have been told the matter would be settled in 48 hours. Today is Day 50 and we are still waiting. Action requested 1. Reconnect the phone as Pay As You Go or something that a nursery school teacher can afford. 2 Employ and train competent staff who can do more than just sell phones and contracts. 3 Institute policy changes in the Legal Dept so that they deal humanely and compassionately with deceased estates instead of trying take every last cent. We did not renege on the contract. We are trying to settle the matter amicably. My heart goes out to other grieving families who are being treated with callous disinterest by Vodacom. What they are doing might not be illegal, but it is immoral.
