Why do i get charged again if i have already paid

My Mtn Bill bounced on the April Debit run so Mtn Cut my service which is understandable because i didnt pay. I made a plan and paid my account on the 18 th of April and the lady at the Tygervalley Mtn shop re- activated my service. for May months debit order i made sure that i had exactley enough left in my account so that my debit order does not bounce again, but to my horror Mtn debited last month and this months fee.
because i was only able to leave the exact amount in my account it bounced again costing me R138 for returned debit order.
I called customer care and was told by Andrew Crouch that it is not Mtn SP's fault as the debit run starts on the 17th and my payment was made on the 18th, so even though i had paid according to the system i hadn't.
he then said i need to call back on the 6th May to make payment arrangements for my outstanding balance as that is when the returned debit will reflect.

i dont understand why i should be left out of pocket for something that should have been rectified on their side. My account will now show arrears againt and i will have to make an arrangement to pay for something that is not my fault. What rights do i have as a consumer?
