Markham
Settled Account Now handed over for collections

Hello,

I had a Markham account years ago, which I rarely used; I then decided to settle and close the account about a year ago, and now while doing my credit check, I learned that I have a Unfavorable Credit Report from ITC. I called TFG and understood that my account was handed over due to arrears on my account. however, I recall clearly that I went into a store, settled the account and requested for the closure of the account.

Now I subsequently had to pay their Credit Collections company.

What bothers me most is that there hasn't been any phone call from Markham to indicate that the account was still not settled and that I still have to pay, They have let the account incur interest from a small amount and ended up being a total of R205.

I would like to know what happened to the settlement and closure of the account and why I was not contacted that there is still money to be paid into the account.
