5 months and still no paid up letter nor itc clea

I had a account with Markhams store, so the account went into arrears a year or so ago, my account was handed over to their attorneys which I had contacted to settle all debts owed to them can be settled. I made a full settlement payment to them as a direct deposit, that was 5months ago, and I was promised to receive a paid up letter and that my name would be removed from the ITC records, which until today has not happened. They now are keeping me from applying for any accounts/loans anywhere because my name is still on ITC records, and I'm unable to have it removed cause I don't have any letter to proof that I don't owe them any monies. This is total pathetic service from their side as a well known retailer.
